Immigration New Zealand is dedicated to processing Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) applications as quickly and efficiently as possible. We know how crucial this is for everyone involved, so we’re constantly working to improve our processing times and make the experience smoother.
Steps We're Taking to Speed Up AEWV Processing
We’ve made some important changes to speed up how AEWV applications are handled. By grouping similar applications, such as those from the same sector or area, we can assign them to specialized teams. This helps us process applications faster and allows us to prioritize those with complete documents. Having all the required paperwork up front makes a huge difference in how quickly we can move forward.
Processing Priority for the Week of November 11, 2024
This week, we’re focusing on specific AEWV application groups to ensure efficient processing. While most applications are handled in the order they arrive, these priority groups receive extra attention from our teams:
1. Employer Accreditation: Applications where the employer's interim accreditation expires within the next 6 weeks.
2. Job Check Applications:
- Green list jobs, ANZSCO skill level 1 roles, and those submitted within the last 10 days.
- ANZSCO skill level 2 hospitality roles.
- Jobs in the meat sector agreement.
3. Accredited Employer Work Visas:
- Applications linked to an employer accreditation expiring in 6 weeks.
- Applications for visa holders in New Zealand moving from an interim visa with no work rights to a new AEWV.
- Green list roles and Meat Sector agreement roles, as well as applications filed within the last 10 days.
Note: Even if your application is prioritized, the decision speed still depends on the quality and completeness of your documents.
How to Ensure Your Application Moves Smoothly
1. Complete Applications Only: Missing documents, like Police certificates or English test results, can delay processing and may even lead to a decline. Ensure everything is included the first time you submit.
2. Quick Response to Requests: If we reach out for more information, respond within the given timeframe to avoid delays.
3. Keep Accreditation Up-to-Date: Ensure your employer accreditation remains valid. You’ll need it to process current Job Check or work visa applications, apply for new job tokens, or support AEWV holders with extensions.
4. Plan Ahead for Extensions: If you need more time, request an extension as early as possible and provide a valid reason.
By providing complete applications and staying responsive, you help us process AEWV applications faster and more effectively. Visit our AEWV visa information page for full requirements and ensure your application is set up for success.
