Immigration New Zealand will now decline visa applications submitted or prepared by unlicensed or non-exempt individuals, reinforcing the importance of using authorized immigration advisers.
Effective 31 March 2025, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) will decline visa applications that have been submitted or prepared by unlicensed or non-exempt individuals. This policy applies to both online and paper applications and aims to ensure a fair and transparent immigration process by protecting applicants from misleading or unlawful advisers.
Under the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007, only licensed immigration advisers, New Zealand lawyers with a current practicing certificate, their employees, or other legally authorized individuals can provide immigration advice. Applicants are responsible for ensuring the information in their applications is truthful and complete. Providing false or misleading information may result in declined applications and could negatively affect future applications.
If an application is declined or returned due to involvement with an unlicensed adviser, INZ will provide guidance on how to resubmit correctly. Applicants who believe they have been misled by an unlicensed individual are encouraged to contact INZ or file a complaint with the Immigration Advisers Authority.
Engaging with a licensed immigration adviser ensures that your application is handled professionally and in compliance with New Zealand immigration laws. To discuss your immigration needs, consider booking a "needs analysis" discovery call on our website.
